Totally relate to this. I miss feeling like the best version of myself. Survival mode is exhausting.

Exactly! And I seem to keep forgetting I’m in survival mode and think I should be normal and fine, despite the trauma and uncertainty of infertility and recurrent pregnancy loss. I’m so sorry you’re in it too, but I’m happy to know that it’s not just me. 🤗

I’ve been struggling, too. Finally working with my doctor to get back on track. Thanks for sharing this. I’d totally be a paid subscriber but can’t do it now, so maybe when you’re ready. 🙌

I’m sorry to hear that you’re struggling too, CB, but I’m so glad you’ve found some support. Thank you for reading, and I’ll be grateful for your pledge whenever you’re ready! There is also the $5 a month option, if that makes it easier. I wish I could go lower than that honestly, but Substack raised the minimum subscription fee before I turned on pledges. I’m so happy to have you as a subscriber!

Thank you CB, that means so much! And of course you won’t get charged for your pledge until I turn on paid subscriptions.

Hi Liz, thanks for your kind comment on my Substack. I haven’t had the will to write for many months now, although I’m always “on the edge” on publishing the next post. We’ll see when I get around to it.

I’m also on a low inflam-diet due to recovery from my health issues. I wanted to recommend a smoothie in the morning. I am a fussy eater and had to really teach myself to cook healthy meals, but when I’m not feeling up for it, the easiest thing is:

- banana, kale, strawberries, flaxseed, chia seeds, cocoa powder and literally anything else with coconut water blended. Bam. That covers 1-1/2 meals (brunch?) in a healthy easily digestible way.

Sometimes I mix it up with spirulina, beetroot, spinach, yogurt, oat milk etc etc.

The best advice I got from my nutritionist was to adopt a mindset of “what can we add in”, as I am someone that might suffer from dietary “restrictions”, so still let myself have a treat every now and then (the small joys!)

Sending you the best for your next round of IUI x

Thank you so much, Jade! Your smoothie sounds delicious. I love smoothies, but I cut back on them this winter because my acupuncturist said that cold foods in the cold months could affect my fertility (it's a Chinese medicine thing, not a scientific thing, so take that with a grain of salt). But now that it's getting warm out I think they are fair game, and I look forward to trying your recipe. Best wishes for your healthy recovery! And I hope you'll be inspired to write more soon.

I found this piece very inspiring in how vulnerable, open, and honest it was. And I especially enjoyed the line “... shuffle downstairs to stare at the fridge and hope breakfast will make itself.” - I found that very relatable. Thank you

The contemplation really resonates with me. I spend so much time contemplating doing something (like taking a shower) that I could have already done it ten times over. This realization has helped me not to spend two hours thinking about what to do, and just take the five minutes and do it.

Same! Just this morning I was thinking that the two hours I spent contemplating my day could’ve been used getting everything done that I was avoiding. 😂
